FORT COLLINS, COLORADO, May 21, 2008 – Twenty employees of In-Situ Inc. donated their time to construct three environmentally-friendly mulching vault latrines at boat-in campsites located on the west side of Horsetooth Reservoir In Fort Collins, Colorado, USA. Up until now no latrine facilities were available at these campsites.

“The volunteers from In-Situ were nothing short of a Godsend!” said H.S. “Dutch” Fla Havhan, Volunteer Coordinator with the Larimer County, Colorado Department of Natural Resources. “With limited staff and thin budgets, the mulching latrines sat, unassembled, on pallets at the Horsetooth Maintenance Shop for more than two years. In less than one day, a mere 20 volunteers from In-Situ had all three latrines constructed and ready for use.”

After a briefing by Department of Natural Resources officials, the 20 employees set off to prepare sites and assemble latrines donated to Larimer County through a federal “Boating Is Fun” grant administered by the State of Colorado.

“Every day of the year In-Situ products are used throughout the world to analyze and promote clean-water supplies,” said In-Situ CEO Bob Blythe. “Today’s volunteer effort by In-Situ employees gives us the chance to demonstrate our commitment to promoting clean water supplies right here in Fort Collins and it is an opportunity to give back to our community.”

“Were it not for In-Situ’s commitment to the environment and water quality and the unbounded exuberance of their employees, I don’t know when this project may have been completed,” said Havhan. “I’d like to extend a huge ‘thank you!’ to In-Situ and all the employees who participated in making this project such a success!”

In-Situ Inc. is also partnering with Larimer County Department of Natural Resources by participating in the Adopt-A-Trail program. In-Situ is the proud adopter of Horsetooth Rock Trail located in Horsetooth Mountain Open Space.
