Are You Flood Ready?
Cost-Effective Monitoring Solutions for Data-Driven Emergency Management

On Demand Webinar | Presented By: Kerry Caslow

Webinar Overview

Flood preparedness and emergency management has become a critical need around the world, and it is difficult to develop proactive strategies and response plans without timely, accurate data. But with the latest innovations in flood and stormwater monitoring, we are more equipped than ever to collect real-time water level and quality data to help mitigate the risks and impacts of these emergencies. And all within a feasible budget.

Cost-effective water monitoring networks are possible for both small communities and larger municipalities and are essential for developing proactive, strategic plans for flood evacuation and response. In this webinar, Application Development Manager Kerry Caslow will cover how to build scalable, high-accuracy water monitoring systems and how to use data-driven decision-making to help communities, infrastructure and environments prepare for and recover from storm events.

Surface water hydrology expert Kerry Caslow will discuss how water level and water quality monitoring is critical for flood and stormwater awareness, preparation, response and recovery, and how you can establish the continuous monitoring network you need to deliver accurate real-time data to make proactive emergency management possible.

Specific topics will include using water level data to

  • Assess threats to specific geographic areas
  • Develop effective evacuation plans
  • Protect communities and infrastructure
  • Speed response time to emergencies
  • Conduct post-storm damage assessments

And using water quality data to

  • Determine the impact of combined sewer overflows (CSOs), stormwater and urban runoff on fresh water sources
  • Assess how levels of metals, bacteria, nutrients and other organic matter have changed
  • Monitor potential spread of pollutants after storm events
  • Identify public health hazards and plan effective communication and outreach
  • Adjust drinking water treatment processes to account for changes in surface water quality

This webinar is ideal for those working at the forefront of stormwater monitoring, flood preparedness and disaster response.

Roles include:

  • Hydrologists
  • Hydrologic technicians
  • Civil engineers
  • Environmental engineers
  • Emergency managers
  • Floodplain managers
  • Dam managers
  • Epidemiologists
  • Public health scientists
  • Local and national government officials
